How to Spark Motivation: Ambition and Expectancy
One book that has inspired me lately is The Motivation Manifesto by Brendon Burchard, a world-renowned high-performance coach, and trainer. In this book, he reveals the secrets of how to reclaim our personal power and pursue our goals with passion and purpose.
One of the key concepts that he introduces is the idea of motivation as a combination of ambition and expectancy. He defines ambition as “the desire for achievement, attainment or distinction” and expectancy as “the belief that something is possible or likely”. He argues that these two elements are essential for sparking and sustaining motivation over time. But how can we cultivate ambition and expectancy in our lives? Here are some tips from Burchard’s book:
To increase our ambition, we must have a clear vision of what we want to achieve and why it matters. We must align our goals with our values and passions and make them meaningful and inspiring. We must also challenge ourselves to stretch beyond our comfort zone and seek growth and excellence.
To increase our expectancy, we need to have a realistic plan of action that breaks down our goals into manageable steps. We need to track our progress and celebrate our wins, no matter how small. We also need to learn from our failures and setbacks and use them as feedback for improvement.
To maintain ambition and expectancy, we need to surround ourselves with positive influences supporting us in our journey. We must seek mentors, role models, peers, and friends who share our vision or have achieved similar goals. We must also avoid negative influences that undermine or distract us from our path.
By applying these tips, we can spark motivation through ambition and expectancy and achieve greater personal freedom in all areas of life.

The Importance of Emotional Meaning in Progressive Mastery
When it comes to mastering any skill, it's important to attach a high level of emotional meaning to the process. This means connecting with the reasons why you want to improve and what achieving mastery will mean for you on a personal level.
By attaching emotional meaning to your goals, you create a powerful motivator that can help drive you towards success. When we care deeply about something, we are more likely to put in the effort and dedication required to achieve our goals.
In contrast, if we don't have a strong emotional connection to our goals, it can be easy to lose motivation and give up when faced with challenges. Without that inner drive and passion, it becomes difficult to push through obstacles and continue making progress.
So how can you attach emotional meaning to your goals? Start by reflecting on why you want to achieve mastery in your chosen skill. What will it mean for you personally? How will it improve your life or the lives of those around you?
Once you have identified your reasons for wanting to improve, keep them at the forefront of your mind as you work towards your goal. Remind yourself regularly of why this is important to you and use that motivation to push through any challenges that arise.
In conclusion, attaching a high level of emotional meaning is crucial for achieving progressive mastery in any skill. By connecting with your personal reasons for wanting to improve, you can create a powerful motivator that will help drive you towards success.

Recipe to Try

Lobster Mac and Cheese
Ingredients:
2 (1 1/2-pound) lobsters
Kosher salt
1 quart heavy cream
1/4 cup grated Parmesan
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
A few dashes hot sauce
Freshly ground black pepper
3 cups grated Gruyere cheese (about 8 ounces)
One pound elbow macaroni
Nonstick cooking spray, for the baking dish
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 cup Panko bread crumbs
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
Steps:
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Fill a large pot with water and bring to a boil. Add some salt and the lobsters. Cook the lobsters until they are bright red, about 8 minutes, then drain and set aside.
For the mac and cheese: Add the heavy cream, Parmesan, Dijon, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, pepper and a pinch of salt to a large skillet over medium heat. Simmer gently, whisking until smooth. Add the Gruyere and turn off the heat.
Cook the macaroni in a large pot of boiling salted water until al dente, about 8 minutes. Drain well and add to the cheese sauce. Stir well to combine.
Spray a baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Transfer the macaroni mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
Remove the meat from the lobster tails and claws and chop into bite-sized pieces. Sprinkle over the macaroni layer.
In a small bowl, toss together the butter, bread crumbs and parsley. Sprinkle over the lobster layer. Bake until golden and bubbly around the edges, about 25 minutes.
Enjoy!
